Edgar Davids, the Dutch midfielder from Juventus, was thought to be ready
to fly to England today, hoping to become Manchester United's third #10 million man!
Last year Alex Ferguson splashed out #10 million on both Jaap Stam and Dwight Yorke.
But now, in an interview today, Alex Ferguson has said "We've had no talks at all.
Definitely not". This could well be a Ferguson negotiating tactic, or it could be true -
all will become clear in the next few days. Twenty six year old Davids has plenty of top flight experience, and not only with
Juventus - he has also played for AC Milan. Davids has been unhappy recently
when Juventus boss Carlo Ancelloti used him as bait to try and lure Christian Vieri
from Lazio. Ferguson would use Davids in the midfield as a fiery partner to Keane - the
combination would would make the United midfield truly awesome!
United's win against Bayern Munich was the pinacle this season's achievments and
assured them of a place in the record books for the forseeable fututre as winners
of the trible. The first goal fell to Bayern Munich after only 5 minutes - it was
the result of a free-kick. The next 85 minute saw plenty of action, but no goals.
All hope for United had gone. Then, in the 90th minute, the Machester United dream
sprang to life in the form of Teddy Sherringham, who equalised. Two minutes later,
when all were contemplating extra time, Solskjaer banged in the winner! United had
won the treble!
MOST VIOLENT REF!
German referee Kaymacki, shot player Osbert in the head, when he refused to leave the pitch after a foul! Osbert's team mates threw the ref to the ground and refused to play on. Kaymacki said "One has to maintain discipline, otherwise the game doesn't flow properly......."!
