DAVIDS - IS HE COMING OR GOING?

08/07/99
Edgar Davids, the Dutch midfielder from Juventus, was
thought to be ready to fly to England today, hoping
to become Manchester United's third 10 million man!
Last year Alex Ferguson splashed out 10 million on
both Jaap Stam and Dwight Yorke. But now, in an
interview today, Alex Ferguson has said "We've had no
talks at all. Definitely not". This could well be a
Ferguson negotiating tactic, or it could be true, all
will become clear in the next few days. Twenty six
year old Davids has plenty of top flight experience,
and not only with Juventus - he has also played for
AC Milan. Davids has been unhappy recently when
Juventus boss Carlo Ancelloti used him as bait to try
and lure Christian Vieri from Lazio. Ferguson would
use Davids in midfield as a fiery partner to Keane,
the combination would would make the United midfield
truly awesome!
