Edgar Davids, the Dutch midfielder from Juventus, was thought to be ready to fly to England today, hoping to become Manchester United's third �10 million man! Last year Alex Ferguson splashed out �10 million on both Jaap Stam and Dwight Yorke. But now, in an interview today, Alex Ferguson has said "We've had no talks at all. Definitely not". This could well be a Ferguson negotiating tactic, or it could be true, all will become clear in the next few days. Twenty six year old Davids has plenty of top flight experience, and not only with Juventus - he has also played for AC Milan. Davids has been unhappy recently when Juventus boss Carlo Ancelloti used him as bait to try and lure Christian Vieri from Lazio. Ferguson would use Davids in midfield as a fiery partner to Keane, the combination would would make the United midfield truly awesome! In spite of feverish protests from many of the fans, United boss Martin Edwards has taken the final steps in withdrawing from next seasons FA Cup competition. All attention will now be on the debut of the new World Club Championships competition to be held in Brazil. The competition aims to discover the best football club in the world. It is also thought that if Manchester United enter this competition, England stand a better chance of hosting the 2006 World Cup.
